Brand Story
Before starting his own brand, Torsti Laine won the prestigious A. Lange & Söhne Watchmaking Excellence Award in 2014. A graduate of the famous Finnish School of Watchmaking, Laine relocated to Switzerland to establish his workshop in Le Locle. By focusing on bespoke customization, Laine allows collectors to select their own dial patterns, color combinations, and movement configurations, treating each watch as a unique commission.
Design Language
The Laine design language is classic Swiss dress watch with a modern, colorful twist. The brand’s signature is its dial work, which often combines multiple techniques on a single dial face: hand-turned guilloché centers, frosted outer rings, and applied Breguet-style numerals. The colors range from classic silver and blue to bold salmon, purple, and green.
Movements & Manufacturing
Laine utilizes high-quality Swiss movement bases. For their manual-wind watches, they heavily modify the ETA 6498 base, replacing the bridges with in-house structures finished in classical German-silver frosting or hand-engraved patterns. For their automatic watches, they utilize ultra-thin micro-rotor movements supplied by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, completed with custom Laine finishes.
Notable Models
V38: An automatic model featuring a Vaucher micro-rotor movement and a three-part dial with custom hand-turned guilloché.
Gelidus: A manual-wind collection defined by a dial with a unique frosted texture and a modified ETA movement.
GG3: A dual-pattern guilloché model showcasing Laine’s mastery of traditional rose-engine engraving.
Why Enthusiasts Care
Laine brings the rare art of hand-turned rose-engine guilloché to a relatively accessible price range. Because every dial is individually turned in Torsti Laine’s workshop, and the client can customize almost every detail, buying a Laine watch provides a bespoke collector experience that is hard to find in modern watchmaking.
