Brand Story
Romain Gauthier studied engineering and worked as a CNC programming specialist. Determined to create his own brand, he spent three years developing his first movement in his spare time. In 2005, he launched the brand. In 2013, Gauthier introduced the ‘Logical One,’ which redefined the classic chain-and-fusee constant-force mechanism. The model won the Best Complication prize at the GPHG that year.
Design Language
Gauthier’s designs are highly architectural. Dials are typically off-center, drawing the eye toward the open mechanical components below. Cases are ergonomically designed, often lacking a traditional crown at 3 o’clock to emphasize symmetrical curves.
Movements & Manufacturing
The movements are famous for their unique circular-grained gears, curved bridges, and incredibly wide, hand-polished anglage bevels. Every bridge edge is hand-filed and mirror-polished, representing some of the most labor-intensive finishing in the modern industry.
Notable Models
Logical One is a highlight of their production line.
Why Enthusiasts Care
Romain Gauthier represents a perfect marriage of high-precision component machining and traditional human artistry. For collectors who demand movement decoration that matches or exceeds legendary historic standards, Romain Gauthier is a premier choice.
