Brand Story
Marathon was founded in 1939 by Morris Wein. In 1941, the brand began supplying military timepieces to the Allied forces. Marathon has continued to be a prime contractor for the US Department of Defense, Canadian Armed Forces, and municipal police forces, creating watches that are officially issued to active-duty personnel.
Design Language
Marathon watches feature functional cases, deep dials to accommodate tritium gas tubes, and massive knurled bezels. Dials display military 24-hour markers and the ‘U.S. Government’ or ‘Marathon’ brand logo.
Movements & Manufacturing
The mechanical models utilize Swiss automatic movements from Sellita or ETA, modified and shock-protected to survive extreme temperatures, high altitudes, and combat situations.
Notable Models
GSAR is a highlight of their production line.
Why Enthusiasts Care
Marathon is one of the few brands that still builds actual military-issue tool watches. Their use of self-luminous tritium gas tubes provides decades of constant, battery-free illumination, making their watches highly valued by tool watch enthusiasts.
