Brand Story
Echo/Neutra was founded in 2018 by Nicola Callegaro, a designer and architect, and Cristiano Quaglia, an aerospace engineer. Combining their passions for design, mechanics, and outdoor sports, they wanted to create watches that could handle active use in the mountains. Based in Milan, the founders chose the Dolomite mountains as their muse, integrating subtle Alpine symbols and colors into the watches. Their debut collection, the Averau, established Echo/Neutra as a credible new name in the European independent watch space.
Design Language
The brand’s design language is clean, modern, and graphic. Dials feature high-contrast, printed markers, syringe or needle hands, and precise sub-second markers. The color palettes reflect natural Alpine elements—such as rock grey, forest green, and glacier white—with a signature red-and-white tip on the second hand representing trail markers, creating a unique outdoor-ready look.
Movements & Manufacturing
Echo/Neutra watches are Swiss-assembled and certified. The brand exclusively utilizes reliable Swiss mechanical movements, primarily Sellita automatic calibers (such as the SW200-1 for three-hand models and the SW510 for chronographs), ensuring high accuracy, durability, and easy serviceability.
Notable Models
Averau (2019): The brand’s signature field watch collection, featuring a highly legible dial, robust case finishing, and Swiss automatic movements.
Cortina (2021): A robust sports chronograph styled after vintage racing and pilot chronographs, named after the famous alpine town.
Cristallo (2022): A heavy-duty professional dive watch featuring 500m water resistance and a ceramic bezel insert.
Why Enthusiasts Care
Echo/Neutra is respected by enthusiasts who value clean graphic design and Swiss mechanical specifications. The partnership between a designer and an aerospace engineer ensures that their watches are both beautiful to look at and robustly built. Their authentic mountain-sports identity and Swiss assembly make them a highly compelling choice for outdoor enthusiasts.
